Day 13: A Selfie Video Sharing God’s Light!

Have you ever watched a movie and then posted about it on social media, in hopes of getting your friends and family to watch it too? Or have you ever tried a new restaurant and shared a review of your experience?

Today’s challenge: apply this same concept to sharing your faith story. Create a selfie video that depicts the essence of God’s light in your life.

I know that this might sound like a daunting task, but before you get too anxious, here are 3 things to consider:

  1. You tell compelling stories every day - to family, to friends, to coworkers. Have you ever started a conversation saying, “So the craziest thing happened to me the other day…” or “Oooo, guess who I ran into this weekend?” … See, you’re already a pro! Just tell about that crazy thing that God did for you the other day, or about that time you “ran into Jesus.”

  2. It doesn’t have to be polished! In fact, it shouldn’t be polished. And don’t make it scripted! Just tell your story in your words. One take! (just be sure you have good lighting and the right angle! Boomers, ask your millennial or Gen Z family members how to best take a personal video 😆)

  3. There’s no right or wrong way to do this - because there’s not a cookie-cutter approach to telling your story! Remember, it’s the story of how God started working in your life. You’re the best one to tell this story because you were the one who witnessed it firsthand!

And if you’re wondering what to talk about, here are some simple questions you can answer in your personal video. Pick one, or pick as many as you’d like.

  • Can you share a specific moment when you truly felt God intervene on your behalf?

  • What challenge or hardship did you face that God helped you overcome, and how did your faith carry you through?

  • How has your relationship with God changed your perspective or priorities in life?

  • What event had the most significant impact on your spiritual journey, and how did it strengthen your walk with God?

  • What would you say to someone who is seeking hope, healing, or a deeper relationship with God?

Feel free to use one or all of these cues. Or feel free to share whatever you would like. For now, keep the video to yourself. And be sure to look back at it whenever you’re going through a tough time in life. If you’d like your story to be used as a testimony on our Praise Wall, feel free to let me know after church on Sunday.
